The Lerryn Consultancy Ltd was created in 1994 by Tim Sheppard.  Previously Tim had been Managing Director of Siemens Metering Ltd in Oldham since 1986 where he also fulfilled the role of Technical Director and he was thus well placed to exploit the opportunities presented by deregulation of the Energy Utilities, and the subsequent opening of the competitive markets.

A particular area of expertise developed by the Company was in the prepayment sector for both gas and electricity customers. 

Prepayment customers were much more difficult to transfer and manage in the competitive market as every electricity company had their own version of one or more different prepayment token technologies, and gas prepayment depended on a solution designed and operated as a monopoly system for the national gas provider, British Gas.

The Lerryn Consultancy Ltd developed solutions to both of these problems and has successfully implemented them in over 90% of the established energy supply businesses and in the major new market entrant companies.
